How to make your commute eco-friendly

The time is takes to get to work and back again is often seen as downtime – just a means to an end. However, there are so many ways to make the most of this time as well as incorporating eco-friendly behaviour to ensure your day begins and ends with a positive, productive and green way.

1. Daily routine

Before you even leave the house, pack a lunch to take into the office. While you may have to get up a little earlier to prepare your meal, you can be sure that the money you're saving on buying store products each day – which are often wrapped in layers of planet-harming plastic – will be worth it in the long run.

Taking the train or bus can be less stressful than driving, meaning you have the time to read, relax or even catch up on work if you choose. 

If you live off the beaten track, or want to get fit, get on your bike to cycle to work – enjoy the landscape around you while toning those muscles, which will also help the planet too. If you live a short distance from work, take advantage of your proximity and be the envy of your colleagues by being able to stroll at your leisure into the office.
