Have You Heard Of Green Cleaning?

Green cleaning is an emerging environmentally friendly trend, and it’s catching on quickly.

Have you noticed that in the past couple of years, more and more products on the cleaning shelves at supermarkets are being labelled green, all-natural or organic?

An increasing number of people are choosing these eco friendly products as their ingredients are not so harsh on human health and the environment.

What are these cleaning products made of?

Eco friendly cleaning products avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach, ammonia, chlorine and acids, which can cause irritation to the eyes and lungs, and even skin.

Instead, cleaning products that are marketed as being natural or eco friendly are usually made up of plant-based ingredients such as citrus, plant and vegetable oils, salts, animal milk, minerals and other natural products such as beeswax.

The environment

Harsh chemicals like bleach can cause damage to the natural environment when they end up in the water supply, potentially harming plant and wildlife.

Green products tend to be biodegradable and with little to no negative impact on the environment. In many cases their packaging is also more environmentally friendly.

Your own cleaning products

You can even brew some of your own green cleaning products! Mixing baking soda with water will get rid of dirt and grime from surfaces. Lemon juice and vinegar are great way to get rid of pesky stains or mould, while liquid soap and tea tree oil make a great disinfectant.

Save money

Whether you choose to use green cleaners or not, you can save money by using less of the product of your choice. We tend to be too heavy-handed with our cleaning products and use a lot more than we need to, so take it easy and your products will last longer.

Furthermore, if you choose to make your own cleaning products, you will definitely end up saving money on your household supermarket bill as the ingredients are so much cheaper.
