Delicious summer lunchbox ideas

Summer's almost officially here, and that means hot weather, plenty of fun in the water and delicious summer fruits!

It's prime time to make the most of nature's sweetest offerings, so here are some healthy, summer-inspired lunch ideas for your child.

Summertime lunches

With so much delectable fruit available, fruit salad is a must. Head to the supermarket with your reusable produce bags and fill up on cherries, blueberries, watermelon, peaches, plums, raspberries, strawberries and oranges!

Chop these up to make a delectable summer fruit mix – but be sure to send it off with your child in a reusable container.

You might also want to integrate some summer fruit into a sandwich! A few cubes of pineapple make a great addition to a sandwich or wrap and will fit perfectly into your reusable sandwich wrap.

As summer is so hot, a cool item such as a healthy yogurt will go down well – just make sure there is a fridge where your child can store it, or put a freezer pack in the lunchbox along with it. Opt for a tasty, summer fruit flavour – or for extra health benefits, choose a plain Greek yogurt and add the fruit in yourself.

Make sure your children always have stainless steel drink bottles on hand, too. These are much more environmentally friendly than the plastic alternative and they also ensure your child will always have a cool source of water on hand!

If your child is averse to plain water, you can always jazz it up by including a slice of lemon, orange, cucumber or even a couple of berries in the bottom of the bottle to give it a bit of healthy flavour.
